Zuni Carved Corn Maiden Fetish Pendant by Vickie Quandelacy

These two beautiful Corn Maidens were carved from Mother-of-pearl and accented with various stones by Zuni fetish carver Vickie Quandelacy. One side of this Corn Maiden shows a young woman, full of "fruit," the other shows a mature woman. Just as a mother nurtures her newborn, the Corn Maiden is honored for nurturing her people with the flesh of her body, the sweet corn. These Double Corn Maidens depict the lifetime of a woman.
