This little Corn Maiden, complete with her hair in butterfly whorls, was carved from cedar with turquoise accents by Zuni fetish carver Gilbert Lonjose. A really sweet piece of artwork by this carver. Just as a mother nurtures her newborn, the Corn Maiden is honored for nurturing her people with the flesh of her body, the sweet corn.
