Description
Zuni Carved Buffalo with Wolf Fetish by Maxx Laate
This scene, with a buffalo being attacked by a wolf, (or is it the other way around?), was carved from antler by Zuni artist Maxx Laate. The buffalo represents good medicine, the fulfillment of powers and steadfast endurance. The buffalo was the mainstay of the Plains Indians and was used for food as well as shelter, clothing and weapons. The wolf is a teacher and a pathfinder.
