Native American Hopi Made Wicker Plaque--Vintage
Description
Vintage Native American Hopi Made Wicker Plaque
This vintage Hopi wicker plaque is used for payback and for ceremonies. This is a very colorful basket that is very tightly woven. These baskets are made by plaiting sumac, natural and dyed, to achieve many designs. Many of the Hopi wickers, coils, and sifters are used for social or ceremonial purposes. This basket shows a little age around the edge, but it does not take away from the beauty of this older wicker plaque. The ivory color of the background is the natural color of the wicker. In this basket, it was not dyed white which makes it a warmer, softer finished piece.
