This is the Buffalo (Mosairu) Katsina. He is the same as the Buffalo dancer except he is always masked. The Buffalo dances to increase his kind. This dance is held right after the Katsinam return in the winter and is held in the kivas. This particular Katsina was carved in the 1970s by an unknown Hopi Carver. A wonderful example of a Buffalo Katsina with feathers hanging from his horns, he carries a lightning stick and a rattle.
