Velvet Shirt (Navan'katsina) wears a ribbon shirt which gives him the name Navan (shirt) Katsina. He represents the blooming of plant life and focuses on the beauty of life, as indicated by the flowers worn on his headband. This Katsina is very colorful; his songs are prayers for rain to sustain all life forms. This is a substatial and fabulous piece the brightly painted shirt as well as the hummingbirds and flowers on the base. Malcolm did an amazing job on this larger doll. We acquired this from a private collection.
