Mata Ortiz Handbuilt and Handpainted Seed Pot with Antelope by Rosa Mora

This wonderful seed pot was handbuilt and handpainted by Mata Ortiz resident Rosa Mora. This type of pot would be used to store seeds in the winter; in the springtime, the seeds would be planted and sometimes the pot would be shattered. This piece has beautiful paintings of antelope with different traditional designs on their bodies. Pottery is accented with two figures dancing under a sun. Pottery ring included.
