Navajo Carved Buffalo Fetish by Sammy Smith (dec)

Beautiful buffalo carved from white marble with inlay on both sides. One side is the Sunface (Zia) and arrows, the other side, a Yei dancer and the rainclouds. The buffalo is finished with turquoise eyes by Navajo artist Sammy Smith. The buffalo represents good medicine, the fulfillment of powers and steadfast endurance. The buffalo was the mainstay of the Plains Indians and was used for food as well as shelter, clothing and weapons.
