Mata Ortiz Handbuilt Pot in a Pot by Fito Tena

This unusual handbuilt pot-in-a-pot was created by Mata Ortiz resident Fito Tena. This 'tejido' (textured) style is an ancient technique and the appearance is close to corrugated pottery. Inside the beautiful white pot with the keyhole designs is another smaller pot that is black. It too has the textured style and keyhole designs. The interior pot was handbuilt and the exterior pot built around it. An amazing feat. Pottery ring included.
