Native American Lakota Made Totem--Eagle and Turtle Spirit by Bear Romero

This wonderful totem was carved and painted by Lakota artist Bear Romero. The eagle, is the messenger between the people and the Great Spirit. Beneath him is a warrior, looking for strength and guidance from both the eagle and the turtle, which is beneath him. Turtle represents longevity, tenacity, self-reliance; he assures rainfall; he is the oldest symbol of Mother Earth and carries our prayers to her. Some Native people believe we are living on the back of a turtle. A really creative piece by a very creative and talented artist.
