Native American Santa Clara Handbuilt and Handetched Seed Pot with Deer

Description

Native American Santa Clara Handbuilt and Handetched Seed Pot by Jody Naranjo

This spectacular older seed pot (2003) is wonderfully etched with whimsical deer all around the pot. Interspersed with the deer are several birds. This piece would be used to store seeds throughout the winter. In the spring, when it was time to plant, the pottery would be broken and the seeds planted. Jody Naranjo is a master potter from Santa Clara Pueblo who started working with clay when she was just four-years-old. This piece was in a private collection.
