Native American Navajo Made Cross
Description
Native American Navajo Made Cross by Jacob Utzler
The cross pendant comes from the Spaniards. In the 1600s the Conquistadors wore these pendants for protection. They also had them on their horses to protect the horse and rider. The Natives adopted this piece because it reminded them of the North Star. It was not until later, that they adopted it as a Christian symbol as well. This cross was created using the tufa casting method. Navajo master silversmith Jacob Utzler created this piece of wearable art. Pendant has a wonderful texture and a large bail.
