Native American Navajo Handbuilt Kiva Pitch Pot by Alice Cling
This beautiful pot with a kiva opening was handbuilt by Navajo Master potter Alice Cling. Alice is a master of form in contemporary Navajo pottery. She has been instrumental in the perceptual change of Navajo pottery from folk art to fine art since the 1990s. Alice has won numerous awards for her pottery and has been featured in several books. She uses traditional methods of pottery construction of coil, polish, open fire, and pine pitch coating inside and out. Each work has a beautiful rich red color with fire patterns (black areas) that give the pot a very rich finish. This wonderful piece was acquired from a private collector.
