Native American Jemez Made Clown Mask
Description
Native American Jemez Made Clown Mask by Fannie Loretto
Handbuilt Clown mask by Jemez potter Fannie Loretto. This wonderful mask is a classic piece with the laughing Clown (Koshare). Fannie created these masks by shaping the clay she dug by hand into a bowl. She then would build the face out of that basic shape. She told us that the individual expression came directly from the clay. This mask is a beautiful and peaceful piece that we acquired from a private collection. This Clown mask is 7.25 in. tall x 6.5 in. wide just for the mask. The finished size with horsehair pony tails, corn husk tassels and satin ribbons is 10 in. wide x 20 in. long
