This wonderful totem was carved and painted by Lakota artist Bear Romero. The eagle, is the messenger between the people and the Great Spirit. Beneath him is a medicine wheel. The outer circle of the medicine wheel represents the universe and your circle of life. The cross represents the Four Sacred Directions. The circle and the cross draw from the universe and bring into your circle of life good medicine and protection from misfortune and harm. Beneath the medicine wheel is a Bear with an abalone fish in his mouth. Bear is the guardian of the West. Bear is associated with great strength and is considered to be a powerful healer. A really creative piece by a very creative and talented artist.
