Vintage Native American Navajo Made Squash Blossom Necklace
Description
1940-1965 Native American Navajo Made Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace
This incredible natural turquoise squash blossom necklace uses traditional handcrafted coin silver bench beads and settings for the stones. The ribbed edges on the flattened pieces of silver remind me of flattening pennies on the railroad tracks. This large and unusual piece with a variety of turquoise mines represented is finished with a handcrafted hook and eye. The naja is 3.5 inches tall and this squash has a 28 inch necklace. The accent piece above the naja is 5.75 inches across complete. The silverwork on the squash blossoms is wonderful and the piece is in excellent condition. This piece is unsigned. Noone I sent this off to has seen a piece like this. I have a wide range of dates for the creation as I am not sure. Nothing is a "hint" of time of creation. I hope the photographs do it justice. This is an amazing piece.
