Native American Hopi Made Earrings with Kokopelli-Hoop
Description
Native American Hopi Made Earrings with Kokopelli-Hoop by Gene Pooyouma
Kokopelli is an engaging image that originated in the cultures of the Ancient Ones and was brought into the present by the Pueblo Indians. This classic image of a bent-over figure playing a flute has been associated with shamanism and supernatural qualities. He is a magical being who, by playing his flute, calls the clouds to make rain. Kokopelli is also a symbol for fertility because he carries seeds and mist in his hump. These substantial Sterling silver Kokopelli earrings were made using the overlay technique by Hopi silversmith Gene Pooyouma. The earrings are 3/8" wide and hang just over an inch below the post end of the hoop.
