Native American Jemez Handbuilt and Handpainted 3-D Seed Pot with Zia
Description
Native American Jemez Handbuilt and Handpainted 3-D Seed Pot with Zia by Benjamin and Geraldine Toya
This beautiful pot with the Zia Sunface on the top was created by Native American potters and sculptors Benjamin and Geraldine Toya, of Jemez Pueblo New Mexico. The paints are all traditionally made from nature and the painting is completely freehand. This seed pot can stand square on its base or tilted on its side for display. In the fall the women would take the seeds for next Spring and place them in these pots and then stack them. These pots would be placed in the corner of their home, stacked so the bottom of one pot would seal the top of the other. This storage technique would save space and keep the rodents from ruining next years' seed crop. A beautiful and unique pot by these two talented potters.
