This beautiful piece was shaped, carved then polished to a beautiful luster. The Jemez people are well known for these "melon" pots, and this pot is perfect. The top of the pot is highly polished and etched with the altar or kiva steps as well as corn, the staple crop for the Puebloan people. This pot came from a private collection.
