Native American Navajo Handbuilt and Handpainted Pot by Gloria Kahe (1951-- )
Gloria Kahe learned to make pottery from her mother-in-law, master Hopi potter Marcella Kahe. Gloria is known for her use of Hopi redware clay and cylinder forms. She has won numerous awards for her pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Indian Market.
The design on this pot has a series of six moths encircling the top of the piece. The moths are each highly detailed and their wings are polished red. Separating each moth is a mesa or wing design. This beautiful piece was acquired from a private collection.
