Native American Hopi Carved Qoqooqlo Storyteller Katsina Doll

Description

Native American Hopi Carved Qoqooqlo Storyteller Katsina Doll by Wayne Poleahla

Qoqooqlo (Qoqole or Qooqoqlo) appears at Third Mesa during Soyal. He tells stories, prophesies good crops, and brings gifts for the children. This is a Yellow-Face Qoqooqlo, an amazing carving by Wayne. He is carrying a lightning stick, rattle and a tihu to give away. The appearance of Qoqooqlo is a sign of summer and harvest. The base is finished with the bust of a Qoqooqlo; the green represents the abundance of the coming harvest.
