Native American Hopi Carved Fish Eater Ceremonial Katsina Doll
Description
Native American Hopi Carved Fish Eater Ceremonial Katsina Doll by Alexander Youvella Sr.
Fish Eater (Pakiokwik). Little is known of this Katsina except for the belief that it is a very old one from First Mesa. The total lack of fish on the Hopi mesas would lead to the belief that it originates in one of the Pueblos along the Rio Grande. Pakiokwik might have arrived with the Water Clan people of the Tewa village of Hano. This is a rarely carved figure.
