Old Style Hopi Carved Cold Bringing Woman Traditional Katsina Doll
Description
Old Style Hopi Carved Cold Bringing Woman Traditional Katsina Doll by Ryon Polequaptewa
The Cold Bringing Woman (Horo Mana or Yohozro Wuhti) appears on First Mesa during the Powamuya. She carries a Hopi comb or, in this case, a yucca whip in her hand to muss up peoples' hair when she appears with Nuvak'chin, her grandson. As her name implies, she brings the cold of winter. A classic piece by Ryon, he always creates fabric accents for his pieces.
