This simple gourd was sanded and painted a solid brown to match the earth. Alex then fashioned a kiva opening complete with ladder. Atop the ladder he tied prayer feathers and painted the tips of the ladder in traditional colors. Alex then created a prayer mat and two small pots for offerings. This simple piece and powerful piece is a reminder of the connection we all share with the earth and the Great Spirit.
