Description
1970s Native American Papago Made Basket with Corn by Angie Chico
The Native American (Papago) Tohono O'odham or Desert People live in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona and Mexico. This beautiful basket was created using the open coil method where coils of grasses are bundled and then the coils are stacked and woven together with yucca plant. This pattern is called the Whirlwind because of the diagonal lines that travel up the outside of the basket.
