This beautiful woman's warrior blanket was made by Virginia Smith. She is in her 70s and lives in Klagetoh, Arizona. This blanket is worn by the Chief's wife. The yard is handspun and hand carded. The colors are traditional and the light blue is rarely seen. The red is Germantown red, the light blue comes from a dye made from Wallhalla berry and white onion skin. The dark blue is a dye from indigo and grape juice.
This spectacular piece is approx 55" square. The lines are perfectly straight and the weave is very tight. A real treasure.
