Kevin Sekakuku (shown in photo with his daughter Anyssa) was born in Aug 2, 1977 in Tuba City, AZ. He is of the Sun Clan and lives in the village of Kykotsmovi on the Hopi Reservation where he was raised. Taught by three of his uncles, Kevin began carving at the age of seven. After attending the Santa Fe Indian School for a time he returned to Hopi and completed high school. One of his teachers at Hopi High encouraged Kevin to enter the Heard Museum Student Art Show, where he entered two Katsinas. Kevin won a total of five ribbons and prize money in that first show and has been committed to carving ever sinse. Kevin now lives in Phoenix with his wife and two children.
